State Street Corp. will acquire Mercatus, an investment data management platform for private market fund managers and asset owners.
In connection with the transaction, the company will launch State Street AlphaSM, a private markets platform, which will provide institutional investors visibility into asset and fund level data.
“Institutional investors are turning to the private markets as the hunt for alpha intensifies,” said Paul Fleming, State Street’s executive vice president and global head of alternatives.
The new product will enable clients to manage the lifecycle of alternative asset investments and will focus on cloud-based asset management; environmental, social, and governance (ESG); and deal management.
“Investors in private markets have historically struggled with inefficient and manual processes because existing solutions are too fragmented and rigid to meet their changing investment requirements,” said Spiros Giannaros, president and CEO of Charles River Development, a State Street company.
