Funding
VU Security, an Argentinian fraud and identity protection start-up, has secured $12 million in a Series B funding round fulfilled by Argentinian software developer Globant, and other investors including Agrega Partners, NXTP Ventures, Bridge One, the IDB Lab, and Telefónica.
Quantexa, a London-based cybersecurity company that uses AI-based solutions to detect and prevent money laundering and fraud, has raised $153 million in a Series D funding round led by Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm focused on growth investing. Existing investors Dawn Capital, AlbionVC, Evolution Equity Partners, HSBC, ABM AMRO Ventures, and British Patient Capital also participated in the round.
Arctic Wolf, a cybersecurity operations provider headquartered in Minneapolis, has recently closed a $150 million Series F funding round fulfilled by Viking Global Investors, Owl Rock, and other previous investors.
ShardSecure, a New York-based provider of data privacy and security, has secured $2.5 million in a Series A funding round led by EPIC Ventures, which focuses on early-stage technology. Existing investors Industrifonden and Tom Noonan, a cybersecurity expert.
Cybereason, a Boston, Massachusetts-based provider of endpoint protection, has raised $275 million in a Series F funding round headed by Liberty Strategic Capital, with participation from Irving Investors, Neuberger Berman Investment Advisers LLC, and Softbank Vision Fund 2.
CertiK, a blockchain security firm headquartered in New York, has closed a $37 million Series B funding round co-led by Coatue Management and Shunwei Capital, with additional contribution from Coinbase Ventures.
AttackIQ, a California-based provider of a security optimization platform that enabled threat defense across organizations, has secured $44 million in a Series C funding round led by Atlantic Bridge Ventures, which invests in deep technology companies in Europe and the US. Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures (SAEV) and Gaingels, as well as existing investors Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Telstra Ventures also participated.
Stych, a San Francisco-based passwordless authentication company, has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round headlined by Thrive Capital, which invests primarily in internet, software, and technology-enabled companies. Coatue Management and existing investors including Benchmark and Index Ventures also participated in the round.
Akeero, an Irish cloud security platform, as raised $1.2 million in a pre-seed funding round directed by Frontline Ventures, with participation from Trusight Ventures, Tiny VC, Capitoria, and Oyster Capital Investments.
Virsec, a California-based threat prevention platform, has secured $100 million in a Series C funding round fulfilled by more than 70 investors from the public and private sector, including former Cisco chairman and CEO John Chambers and former EMC chairman and CEO Mike Ruettgers.

Mergers and Acquisitions
Microsoft has announced its acquisition of RiskIQ, a San Francisco-based provider of global threat intelligence and attack surface management, for over $500 million, making this the software giant’s fifth acquisition this year. Microsoft aims to help customers “build a more comprehensive view of the global threats to their businesses” and strengthen threat intelligence, according to Eric Doerr, vice president of cloud security.
Motorola Solutions, a Chicago-based provider of mission-critical communications and analytics technologies, announced its acquisition of Openpath Security, a California-based cloud-based mobile access control provider. “This acquisition enables us to combine the power of video security and access control together, providing unprecedented situational awareness, where every physical entry and exit is authenticated and recorded with access control and video,” commented Greg Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Solutions.
Barracuda Networks, a California-based provider of cloud-enabled security solutions, has completed its acquisition of SKOUT Cybersecurity, a New York-based provider of cyber-as-a-service software for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and extended detection and response services.
Authentix, a Texas-headquartered deliver of anticounterfeiting and brand protection solutions, has acquired Strategic IP Information Pte Ltd, a Singapore-headquartered content rights protection provider. “This strategic acquisition expands our portfolio of digital security technologies to include online anti-counterfeiting and content rights solutions and increases the scope of offerings for our brand protection clients,” stated Kevin McKenna, chief executive officer of Authentix.
Aqua Security, an Israel-based deliverer of cloud native security, has announced its acquisition of tfsec, an open-source security scanner for Infrastructure as Code (IaC). The acquisition will allow Aqua Security users to “scan code repositories and container images for vulnerabilities and IaC configuration issues – all using a single tool, that can integrate into their CI tool or even be used as a Github action.”
ID Technologies, a Virginia-based deliverer of solutions to government customers in the defense, intelligence, and federal civilian communities, has acquired Attila Security, a Maryland-based provider of endpoint security solutions. With the acquisition, ID Technologies will strengthen its market position in ultra-secure remote working solutions for government and commercial clients.
